The price for the set meal was reasonable and the quality of meat was excellent. Various varieties of waygu beef were served. Remember to eat the Nagasaki waygu beef last as it is th best. We also enjoyed the tomato salad.

Nagasaki Wagyu Yakiniku Pure (ぴゅあ) is one of those rare gems that truly honors the spirit of Japanese hospitality and the excellence of local Wagyu beef. From the moment you enter, you can feel that everything here revolves around quality, care, and respect for ingredients. The Meat — Absolute Perfection The Nagasaki Wagyu served here is simply outstanding — beautifully marbled, buttery yet light, and full of deep, clean flavor. Each cut is presented with care, and the staff explain the best order and cooking time for each slice. The texture practically melts in your mouth, reminding you why Japanese Wagyu has such a reputation worldwide. If you choose the tasting set or course menu, it’s a fantastic journey through different textures and aromas — from delicate lean cuts to rich, juicy ones that burst with umami. The beef tongue and short rib were personal highlights, perfectly balanced and incredibly tender. The Experience Everything is grilled at your own pace, on high-quality charcoal that enhances the flavor without overwhelming it. The smoke extraction works perfectly, so you can enjoy the aromas without leaving with the smell of BBQ. Each table feels private, calm, and elegant — ideal for both couples and small groups. Accompaniments & Drinks The side dishes are as refined as the meat: crisp salads, homemade sauces, light kimchi, and perfect rice that complements every bite. The sake and wine list are well thought out, offering both local and premium options that pair beautifully with the meat. Service & Atmosphere The service is impeccable yet warm — attentive without being intrusive. Staff members are clearly proud of what they serve and happy to share their knowledge about Nagasaki Wagyu’s origin and characteristics. The atmosphere is intimate, calm, and perfectly suited for a memorable evening. Value For the quality offered, the price is very fair. You are paying for craftsmanship, dedication, and truly exceptional local beef — and it shows in every detail. --- In Summary If you are in Nagasaki and want a true Wagyu experience, skip the tourist traps and come to Yakiniku Pure. It’s a place where the art of Japanese beef reaches its purest form — hence the name. A must-visit for any food lover.

The ONLY thing I could ask, is that the portions & variety be bigger. Really no options for drinks other than Tea & Water. Additionally, they only have like 3 cuts. The plus side to that though, is that the cuts are amazing. A quick tip, the pricier the better. Though that is not always the case, it is here. The translations aren't as inuitive, but it's pretty easy to navigate the menu and order as you go. Portions are VERY small, but that is always the case with Wagyu. The bottom of the barrel is comparable to USDA choice. The mid tier is like A1 wagyu, whereas the premium one is closer to A5. They don't say definitively, but the beef they serve is local to nagasaki. Exceptional cuts, just very small portions. Because of this, you'd need to spend roughly $50-$70 per person to have enough meat to fill you. However, if you are looking to simply try it as a delicacy as opposed to a full meal, it is PERFECT. I have provided pictures for reference. They had a special that came with tea, soup, kimchi, rice & 3 meat assortment. I additionally order 3 cuts of meat (deluxe loin, choice loin, deluxe kiburu [aka Short Rib]). Loin is the way to go 100%. Flavorful, soft, tender, wonderful charring. The other meats were a bit tougher compared to the wagyu, but man it is a solid win. Pictures for reference.

The restaurant is very popular. When I checked in to my hotel, I asked the concierge to book a table for me, but it was fully booked for dinner. I was able to get a table for another night when I made a reservation in person while touring the adjacent Shinchi Chinatown. I ordered a yakiniku platter with 3 different choice cuts of Nagasaki Wagyu (i.e. roast, boneless short rib & filet), assorted kimchi, rice and a bottle of Asahi Super Dry. The beef is really tender and juicy. The tangy flavor and acidity of the kimchi goes well with the heavily marbled wagyu which is rich and fatty. The service was friendly and efficient. All in all, it was a delightful dining experience.
